How to Setup / Use Content Filters on iOS Devices

Follow these very easy step-by- step instructions to set up Content Filters on your child’s iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch devices:

Step - 1

Log into your FamilyTime web dashboard or open your FamilyTime - Dashboard app.

Step - 2

Select the child profile you want to set up Content Filters and tap Settings.

Step - 3

From the list, select Content Filters under the Family Care section.

Step - 4

Now from the list of allowed content, tap Films to choose appropriate content ratings.

Step - 5

Here you can see all the content ratings. You can choose PG-13 ratings for your children.

Step - 6

As you do so, the mature-audience ratings will get automatically restricted and only the age-appropriate ones will be allowed. Tap Content Filters on the top-left to navigate back to the menu.

Step - 7

Similarly, tap TV Programs to select the allowed ratings.

Step - 8

Here are the rating categories for TV shows. You can choose TV-PG for safe search results.

Step - 9

As you tap TV-PG, all the ratings that are not suitable will automatically get restricted. Tap Content Filters on the top-left to navigate back to the menu.

Step - 10

Now tap Apps to select the appropriate app ratings.

Step - 11

Apps with all content ratings are allowed right now. You can tap 9+ or any rating that you find appropriate.

Step - 12

As you tap 9+ rating, all mature app ratings will get restricted automatically. Tap Content Filters on the top-left to navigate back to the menu.

Step - 13

You can toggle off the option to block Explicit Content in iTunes. This way, your children won’t see any explicit content in the Podcasts, Music and other content on iTunes.

Step - 14

You can also toggle on the option to block Erotica in iBooks.

Step - 15

Don’t forget to sync settings from the Settings menu otherwise it will take much longer for the feature to work on your child’s iOS devices.

Step - 16

You’re all done! The settings have been synced and now your children won’t be able to access explicit content on their iPhones, iPads or iPod Touch devices.

  • You can select different content ratings for your children depending on their age so it’s all flexible and you’re in control.
  • You can make sure that they can’t purchase any adult music or fiction from the iTunes as you can block it with just a single tap.
